PAT ISAACS

The concept of organized chaos, where there is beauty and order in uncontrolled situations, influences my patintings. I paint with sharply delineated blocks of color, calligraphic gestures and ragged edges. Painting with encaustic. hot wax,  allows  spontaneity with intention.

Encaustic monotypes are painted with highly pigmented wax sticks onto a heated metal plate. The "one of a kind" image is lifted onto absorbent paper as in monotype print and mounted on canvas or panel. Taking these printed papers, I may even collage in patterns to create connections and contradictions. There is a luminosity unique to molten wax.
